AJAX: Dawn of a new developer
AJAX, or Asynchronous Javascript and XML, is a blossoming web-based development tool. Basically it is intended to mimic desktop application's usability and user interface. The clear advantages of AJAX are faster response times (as opposed to typical web-based tools) and universal usability. AJAX also enhances the look and feel of the web application, making it work much like a desktop program. Pay close attention to AJAX over the next few years. Ask your vendors if they develop in this exciting language. It they say: "What is that", then you should be a bit concerned. We want our healthcare IT vendors to be on the edge of technology with the rest of the economy. Platform dependent applications are old news, and offer little growth potential.
